How did the militia differ from professional soldiers? Why were these differences important?
The two Quartering Acts, 1765 and 1774 are very similar. Read the text of the Quartering Act of 1774 by clicking here.

Answer the following questions about the Quartering Act of 1774:
What reasons did the Crown give for the act?
What powers were given to colonial governors under the Quartering Act of 1774?

From your other readings and support materials, explain how colonists responded to the Quartering Acts.

The Bill of Rights was attached to the United States Constitution about 17 years after the Quartering Act of 1774.
How did the Quartering Act influence the Third Amendment to the Constitution?
What was the connection between the Boston Tea Party and the Intolerable Acts?
Describe the Battle of Lexington and Concord? How did it begin? Who was involved? Why did it become such an overwhelming disaster for the British?
